Shame on Howard and Rudd!! Whigs and Republicans! Damn levellers, if you ask me! Only such badly bred scions of the mercantile middle-classes could object. What better candidate for Governor-General of this fair Commonwealth than the second in line to the throne? And ahe's such a handsome boy too!
I mean really, would you like your fete opened by Prince William or the good General? The poll on Channel Seven's Sunrise was running 75% in favour of the Prince. Just shows you how out of touch our leaders are.
Such parochialism. Who cares if our Head of State is a Brit, or a Hapsburg for that matter. What about a bit of Internationalism? Let's be multicultural!

If we don't want a member of the British royal family to represent the Queen, then logically we shouldn't want a member of the British family to be the Queen. Knocking back Prince William is a statement that we are looking towards a republic.
